Bhakti is the Yoga of divine love. It is a path of spiritual love, devotion and complete surrender to the Lord. Bhakti is love for love's sake. The devotee wants God and God alone. Bhakti (devotion) is the slender thread of Love or love that binds the heart of a devotee
with the lotus feet of the Lord. It is supreme
attachment to God, the supreme love for God. There is no selfish expectation here. There is not a bit of bargaining or expectation of anything here.
Bhakti Yoga unites the devotees with the Lord.
•
Faith is necessary for attaining God-realisation. Faith can work
wonders. Faith can move mountains. Faith can take you to the inner
chambers of the Lord, where reason dares not enter. God is beyond
the reach of intellect. God cannot be a subject of intelect. If
God could be understood by intelect then, the supreme power would
have been the brain, not the God. Devotion is the seed. Faith is
the root. Service of the saints is the shower. Union with the Lord
is the fruit.
• A devotee loves to
hear of God's Lilas and stories. He sings glories of the Lord and remembers Him, His name and His presence all the time. He wants to offer the service of His feet. He worships the God. • A devotee cultivates a relationship with the God. This can be a relation of being the master-servent or father- son with the Lord. Or one can have a relationship of friend or lover with Him. • Bhakti (devotion) is of two kinds, viz., Apara Bhakti (lower type of devotion) and Para Bhakti (highest
Bhakti or Supreme Love). Ringing bells and waving lights is Apara Bhakti. In Para Bhakti,
there is no ritualistic worship. The devotee is absorbed in God. In Supreme Love, the devotee forgets his self entirely. He has only thoughts of God. Para Bhakti melts into wisdom in the end. Bhakti grows gradually just as you grow a flower or a tree in a garden. Cultivate Bhakti in the
garden of your heart gradually.
•
Satvic food is a help to devotion. A devotee gives
up company of non-devotees or the evil. He loves company of saints
and devotees. Japa, Kirtan, prayer, service of saints, study of
books on Bhakti are all aids to devotion..
• Devottes practise the nine modes of devotion or Nava-vidha Bhakti,i.e. hearing the Lilas of
the Lord, singing His Name, His remembrance, service of His
Feet, offering flowers, prostrations, being servant of Lord, His friendship and complete self-surrender.

A realised
devotee is free from lust, egoism, mine-ness, hatred, jealousy,
greed. He is full of humility, compassion and kindness. He sees
God in all beings, in all objects. He has equal vision and a balanced
mind.
• Devotee feels the presence of the Lord everywhere. Lord dwells in the chambers of his heart, too.Lord is in
the breath. Devotee beholds Him in every face. So, he hates none and have negative feeling for none.
